Bought a roll of Silver eagles and Found a Minting error
 

Looks to be a "strike Through" error from the us mint. I purchased this roll for 295, when silver was in the 12's. I figured you people would find this interesting.

Have a few of those, called obverse strike error, had mine graded by NGC.

It is called burnishing. It is still the same color it just reflects the light differently.

Is the marring exactly the same on each coin... exactly the same as the coin pictured? If not, is the marring in the same general area of the coin?

No, mine came from different rolls, I have one with large strike around size of quarter.

That ones worth way more. How often do you see lady liberty petting her hand on the shadow of a eagle sitting on a pedestool? At least thats what the strike error looks like to me... :-) You have a divine strike error there!!!! I wouldn't sell that one. Its a message from lady liberty herself.

Freedom1, You had it right to begin with. It's call a strike THROUGH error. It looks like a piece of foil or something was in between the die and the silver when it was struck. Since that portion did not touch the matte finished die, it remains somewhat shiny, retaining the original burnished surface of the planchet.

Looking at the veneer they put on these things makes me glad I stayed away from SAE's, and continue buying SML's.
The veneer is silver, but it is still veneer. Facades are the mark of crap... on anything.
